— As investors embrace the currency asset class, The Authority on Currencies™ extends its reach to wire-houses by adding talent from Fidelity —
PALO ALTO, CA. June 19, 2012 –Merk Investments LLC, manager of Merk Funds℠ announced today the appointment of James Machuga as Vice President of Sales to focus on the Wire-house Adviser Channel. Prior to joining Merk, Mr. Machuga was Senior II Regional Investment Consultant at Fidelity Investments Institutional Services, where he was responsible for the distribution of Fidelity products to financial intermediaries. At Merk, Mr. Machuga will be partnering with wire-house advisers across the United States.
“We are very excited to bring James Machuga on board. His intellectual curiosity, energy, professionalism and drive all resonate well with Team Merk and our clients,” notes Emily Meyer, Director of Distribution at Merk Investments.
Merk’s team is growing in response to the demand: “concerns about the markets are causing investors to look for ways to diversify and seek downside protection. Currencies have historically exhibited low correlations with traditional asset classes, and may provide an attractive risk/return profile. The Merk Funds provide investors a way to access the currency asset class to diversify their portfolios,” concludes Meyer.
Merk Investments will be participating at the Morningstar Investment Conference June 20-22 in Chicago; Merk President and CIO Axel Merk will be available for interviews on June 21.
