What is Subordinated Debt?
Subordinated debt typically refers to the debt of an issuer that has a lower claim on assets compared to other, more senior debt. Should the issuer default, subordinated debt holders have a lower priority relative to more senior debt holders; subordinated debt holders may not be paid until more senior debt holders are first paid in full.
