This monthly indicator of consumer optimism is reported by The Conference Board based on the results of feedback from surveys of 5,000 households. The Conference Board reports its monthly findings on consumer optimism based on both the consumers appraisal of current conditions and also future expectations.  Generally, only index changes of at least five points are considered significant.
